About this property

We are pleased to be able to offer to the market a nursery of over 1,000 fine specimen trees on behalf of the vendor, William Garfit Trees.

William Garfit is a private grower who has run a successful business since 1970 supplying semi-mature, high quality trees on a small scale to trade specialists. Now, due to retirement, the remaining 1,181 standing trees, comprising a variety of popular species, are being offered for sale.

The stock is offered for sale as a whole and sold as standing trees. The purchaser will have a 3 year agreement to lift the trees from sale.

The nursery is situated in the village of Hauxton, approximately 4 miles south of Cambridge.

The site is conveniently located adjacent to the A10 and approximately 1 mile from Junction 11 of the M11.

The holding has 3 entrance points from the highway and a series of internal tracks providing convenient and easy access to the plantations.

The trees are planted over 5 plantations extending to approximately 15 acres in a ringfenced block which forms part of a larger 80 acre reserve used for fishing and shooting, as shown on the plan.

Approximately twenty popular species of tree are grown in a number of varieties, including Acer, Butula, Prunus and Tilia. The trees have been in plant between 7-15 years (TBC) and stem girth ranges from 14-16cm up to 60+cm. A large majority of the stock is between 20 to 35cm in girth. A full stock list is included in the details.

The trees are grown in fine loamy soils over gravel, being of the Milton soil series, producing a solid rootball when lifted.

Access points to the plantations are kept locked and secured.

The buyer will have the right to lift all trees within a 3 year period after contracts of sale have been completed.

The buyer will be granted a licence to access and lift the trees on an annual basis

VAT will be charged at the prevailing rate on the purchase price.

The stock is offered for sale standing and the buyer will be responsible for lifting and removing.

All trees at the end of the lifting period are to be cleared and the stumps removed leaving the ground ready for cultivation.

The buyer is to make payment for the trees prior to lifting.

The vendor runs a commercial fishing business, shoot and wildlife reserve throughout the year; the vendor retains the right to shoot across the property.

For the avoidance of doubt, no land is available for sale.
