circa 1900, the front lid with blue enamel Arabic numerals and chemin de fer chapter ring over a pink guilloché enamel background, the white dial, 20mm diameter, with black Arabic numerals, blued double swell spade hands and dot minute track, unnumbered mechanical crown wind movement with hand setting button at 2 o'clock and onion shaped winder, case, 25mm diameter, verso hinged, plain and polished, interior stamped '18K', with French 'Eagle Head' mark, numbered 722, the cuvette similarly marked and engraved 'Watchmaker by warrant to the Queen examined by J.W. Benson 62 & 64 Ludgate Hill London Swiss made', gross weight 18.2g

Footnote: Most pocket watches, whether they be for ladies or gentlemen, were usually made for 'standard' sized cases. It is unusual to see such a small case and for the case to bear French marks, instead of the more usual Swiss or British hallmarks.
