Portrait of George "Beau" Brummell (1778-1840) when a child, half-length in a landscape inscribed with the identity of the sitter on the reverse oil on canvas, unlined 23.5 x 19.5cm

Footnote: Provenance: The sitter's niece Georgiana Brummell, Lady Pigott (1802-1886) and thence by lineal family descent

Condition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined. There are minor undulations across the surface and stretcher bar marks. The paint layer has a general network of age cracks, some of them are slightly raised and there are a few small losses. A few scattered, old retouching present which have darkened. The varnish is slightly yellowed and glossy. Wear to the gilding.
