About this lot

Description

Paul Signac (French 1863-1935)
A building atop a hill pencil on a page from a notepad; annotations to the reverse, unframed 12 x 18cm

Footnote: The present lot probably dates from the 1890s when Signac visited Italy. Signac refers to numerous Italian artists to the reverse, including Puccio Capanna, Simone Martini and Giotto. It has been suggested that it depicts Turi, southern Italy.
