the unsigned and slightly convex white dial, 38mm diameter, with black Roman numerals, chemin de fer chapter ring and Arabic outer minute ring, gold coloured fretwork hands and winding aperture at 4 o'clock, front loading mechanical key wind fusée movement with gilded pinned full plate signed 'DE LEPINE A PARIS', hexagonal baluster pillars and three arm balance under a pierced and engraved balance cock, case, 45mm diameter, front hinged bezel with green and white gold foliate embellishments between fluted borders, verso hinged and decorated with rose, white and green gold foliate swags under a white gold mask and ribbon decoration, and featuring a polychrome scene of three seated ladies, one masked, one distracted by a dog, the third conversing with a gentleman standing between them, the lower with an oval coloured plaque topped with two branches and two doves, interior plain and stamped with an unidentified casemaker's mark (SB under a crown within a trefoil), stirrup shaped pendant loop, the stem with French Weevil mark for 18ct gold (1864 - 1888), presented with a decoratively enamelled double-sided winding key featuring on each side a mask over two C scrolls
