James Jackson Curnock, RCA (British, 1839-1891) Children in a rowing boat on a river, possibly on the River Frome at Stapleton, Bristol watercolour 46 x 75cm (18 x 29in) Provenance: By descent within the family of the artist Other Notes: This is an early work by Curnock who was a Bristol artist and son of the portrait and genre painter, James Curnock (1812-1870). The art critic, Ruskin, liked his work and the artist was mentioned in the Academy notes of 1875. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Art. Colours are good - under glass.  Some foxing especially thoughout the sky area, trees and along the bottom edge. Minor chip to the bottom of the frame. Unsigned.
