Hinton Gibbs (British, fl. late 1790s to 1822) Portrait of a gentleman, profile to the right, 7 x 5.6cm (3 x 2in); and Portrait of a lady, profile to the left, wearing a dress, beaded necklace and curled hair, old backing paper inscribed with the date 1815, 7.1 x 5.7cm (3 x 2in) reverse painting on glass, backed with plaster slab (2) 7 x 5.60cm (3 x 2in)

Gentleman - old repaired cracks present in the sitter's jacket. Some paint crackling along the edges of the cracks and along the left outline of the body. Lady - minor scratches to the glass left of the sitter's body. Slight wear to the paint in the outline of the sitter's dress lower left. A small shadow present under her chin as a result of an oil repair. See photos.
