Grant Macdonald, a pair of 20th century Britannia silver candlesticks, London, 1978, of circular conical form, the nozzles decorated with a repeating border of cast and engraved pairs of folded wings, the bases with green baize table protectors and a central circular silver boss with personal engraving, loaded 14 x 14 x 14cm (5 x 5 x 5in)
Other Notes: Grant Macdonald started silversmithing aged 14. He trained at the Central School of Art in London and once established, began taking commissions from London's famous guilds and livery companies for ceremonial ware. He supplies London's famous Bond Street retailers and has become the default choice for the design and production of fine silverware for celebrities and royalty. He has expanded internationally into Europe, America, the Middle East and Far East - from Cartier 's boutique in New York, to the luxurious hotels of Hong Kong. In 2000, he won the competition to design the war memorial for Dresden Cathedral, with the Duke of Kent handing over the winning design, and in 2015, he was awarded the Royal Warrant to HRH The Prince of Wales.
