George Morland (British, 1763-1804) A woodland landscape with two figures on a path beside a cottage signed with initials lower right "G. Md" watercolour on ivory 8 x 9.50cm (3 x 4in)
Provenance: Acquired at a house sale in Norwich about 60 years ago The present work on ivory appears to be the only known work by Morland executed on ivory. According to a manuscript note dated 1890 to the reverse, it was painted for Mr Robert Wedd of Gerrard St, Soho, and was passed down to his grandson in 1842.
