Christie's, South Kensington, 9 March 2000, lot 9; Wood Dalling Hall, Norfolk Mary Vere firstly married Sir Roger Townshend, Baronet, of Raynham in Norfolk, whence are descended the Marquesses of Townshend; her second husband was Mildmay Fane, 2nd Earl of Westmorland.

Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. The canvas is in plane with good tension. The paint layer has a prominent networks of age cracks and the paint is very worn in some areas. There are numerous areas of overpaint which are slightly mismatched to the original but acceptable. The varnish is clear and even but dusty with several scuffs. There is some wear and losses to the frame.
