Description

Dutch School, 19th Century Boors in a tavern, courting a young girl, whilst an Owl looks on through a window; and Boors playing draughts in a tavern oil on copper (a pair) 15 x 19cm (6 x 7in)
Provenance: From a Norfolk country house
Under glass and perhaps a little dirty. Oil on copper. Support and paint layers are in a good, stable condition. There is some wear and abrasion to the paint layers. The varnish is even and glossy. Mould is present on the paint surface and behind the glass. The frames are sound with a few minor chips and losses. One of the paintings, the slip has moved and is held in place by the wooden backboard.
