Captain H Adcock (19th-20th Century Colonial Engineer) and other photographers, The Kaaba at Mecca and Middle Eastern interest, A late 19th Century leather bound album containing 43 photographs of Orientalist scenes, mainly albumen prints, including early views of the Kaaba at Mecca, Eve's Tomb Jeddah (5), Bird's eye view of Muscat Oman, The Sultan's Yacht at anchor in Muscat cove, The Parade Massowah, A Turkish gunboat at Busreh (Bushehr), ships at Busreh, buildings at Bombay and Mahomerah, ships in the Suez Canal, views on-board various ships, etc., variously inscribed in ink to album leaves, dateable to c. 1898. This album forms a record of Adcock's voyage to Ghana where he played a significant role in the construction of the Gold Coast Government Railway, started at Sekondi in 1898.
