In other areas there are areas of loss caused by impact or old areas of fill. In the thinner paint passages of the background there is abrasion. There are a few localised areas of overpaint, but the extent of retouching under the varnish is unclear. The varnish layers are degraded, becoming yellowed and dull. There is a thick layer of surface dirt present.
