Description

Attributed to W.A.S. Benson (1854-1924) for Morris & Co., an Arts & Crafts oak dresser, the back with open shelves and slender cupboards to either side, the base with three frieze drawers and three cupboards below above a shaped apron and raised on pear feet 187.50 x 151 x 54cm (73 x 59 x 21in)
Other Notes: William Arthur Smith Benson is best known for his designs in copper and brass. In the 1890s he also designed a number of pieces of furniture for Morris & Co., which are illustrated in their catalogues, and he became chairman of the firm after the death of Willaim Morris in 1896.
