Anglo-Irish School, late 17th CenturyPortraits of two young boys, said to be members of the Hamilton (Viscounts Boyne) family of Ireland inscribed on the reverse with proposed identities of the sitters oil on canvas, oval, a pair each 44 x 34.5cmCONDITIONBoth works are oil on canvas which have been lined. The canvases are in plane with good tension. The boy with the red jacket has an area of damage at the lower half which has been repaired and retouched. There are also areas of raised and flaking paint around the tear. The darker paint passages show signs of wear and abrasion. Retouchings are reasonably well matched to the original. The varnish layers are semi-matte and slightly yellowed.
