About this lot

Description

realistically modelled, with each ear of corn with a long hair of fine ropetwist, and a pair of leaves made of thin sheet metal, the top and bottom of the stem bound and a bead termination, thin pin and clasp with safety catch; unmarked bright yellow metal, tests for at least 18ct gold; length 12cm; in period leather case by A.E. Köchert

Footnote: Other notes: Corn stalks in this manner were a popular motif, especially in Europe, in the Napoleonic Empire period, inspired by examples from ancient Greece. There are museum examples of all-gold tiaras, like classical laurel wreaths, made of similar barley heads.
