Description

Abraham Christopher Gregory Suriarachi Amarasekara (Sri Lankan, 1883-1983) Boy fishing - Dehiwala Canal, Sri Lanka signed and dated "A.C.G.S. Amarasekara / 1910" lower left and inscribed to the reverse watercolour 21 x 13cm (8 x 5in)
Other Notes: Amarasekara was born in Sri Lanka and came to England in the early years of the 20th century, exhibiting at the Adelphi and the Royal Academy. A lecturer in Fine Arts at Ceylon Technical College, he was also the Honorary Vice President of the Ceylon Society of Art between 1926 and 1958, and President of the Society between 1959 and 1969.
Inscribed to the reverse "Dehivala Canal / A C G S Amarasekara / sketched 1910 / Exhibited at the C.S.A. in 1911"
