Footnote: The cult of snake jewellery in the Victorian era began with Prince Albert proposing to Queen Victoria, the ring given to her was in the image of a snake set with an emerald head. Snake jewellery reached its peak in the 1840's representing love, wisdom, and eternity.

Condition report: In overall good condition. All stones present and secure within the settings. Very minor chipping to diamonds, only visible with a 10X loupe and consistent with age. The pin opens and closes positively with no sign of strain. Wear and tear to case, consistent with age.
