A Victorian diamond, opal and enamel tassel brooch, the centrepiece a cabochon opal set within a border of six flying claw set rose cut diamonds in turn surrounded by eight old mine cut diamonds in claw settings each on flat lotus flower shaped panels bordered with a thin line of dark blue enamel, all on a scalloped satin finished base bordered by two thin concentric lines of enamel, black to the outer, dark blue inner, atop a quatrefoil of pear shaped sections bordered with thin line of black enamel looped with a double row of hollow tube, the brooch with two looped sections of box chain and a single central tassel dropper, unhallmarked yellow metal tests to approximately 18ct gold, width of brooch 4.5cm and weight 30g, presented in the original fitted case

the opal is out of the setting and chipped. Evidence of repair to the rear
