the first, an evening purse probably by Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1903, of rectangular form, both sides with repoussé decoration of birds in foliage around a vacant cartouche, piano hinged and with green silk compartmentalised interior, finger ring and chain, 8 x 5cm, 1.5ozt gross; the second, a dance card case by George Nathan & Ridley Hayes, Chester 1911, of rectangular and plain form with monogrammed front, piano hinged with blue silk compartmentalised interior including an ivory coloured note pad and propelling pencil, finger ring and chain, 10.5 x 7.5cm, 4.1ozt gross: the third, a miniature 'carnet de bal' dance card, with four ivory coloured plates enclosed by two silver outer covers, by Levi & Salaman, Birmingham 1893, with shell and scroll border, single rivet swivel top and curved bale 5 x 3.5cm: the fourth, an unusual triple lead propelling pencil by William Vale & Sons, Birmingham 1896, of cylindrical form and decorated with foliate engraving, each slider with an appropriately coloured hardstone cabochon for red, black and blue, suspensory ring to one end, 7cm in length when retracted (4)
