A pair of George V silver sauceboats, by Harrods, (sponsor's mark Richard Woodman Burbridge), London 1934, in the traditional style, each with gadrooned rim, flying scroll handle and three shell capped paw feet, stamped to the base 'Harrods London S.W.', 23ozt gross (2) 10 x 17 x 9cm (4 x 7 x 4in)
Other Notes: Sir Richard Burbridge, 1st Baronet of Littleton Park in Middlesex, was born in 1847 and joined Harrods in 1891 as their managing director. By 1916, he had increased their profits from £16,000 to over £200,000 - turning it into one of London's largest stores. He was succeeded on his death in 1917 by his eldest son, Sir Richard Woodman Burbridge, the second Baronet, (1872-1945), who became chairman of Harrods. His son, Sir Richard Grant Woodman Burbridge, the third baronet, (1897-1966), was also chairman and managing director of Harrods.
