About this lot

Description

A Han Dynasty green glazed model well, of buff pottery with green glaze now iridescent from age and burial, the well head with superstructure to hold a covered pulley wheel, tiled roof with cross-beam terminals ornamented with well-modelled dragon heads above the well rim with bucket, 51.5cm high. A similar well is illustrated in Hobson, "The art of the Chinese potter".
