About this lot

Description

the pearl, 15mm in diameter and of natural grey colour, carved all over with symmetrical designs and with six navette shaped 'windows' exposing the turquoise bead interior, with a rose coloured cable wire terminating in a bolt ring catch and also a push-through silicone fastening to allow for the removal of the pendant, unmarked tested as 18ct gold, overall length 43cm, gross weight 4.8g

Footnote: Tahitian Pearls represent around 0.7% of the total worldwide pearl production and the Pinctada Margaritifera oyster produces on average one pearl every two years. Using a turquoise bead, this Tahitian pearl has been nucleated within the mollusc and then left undisturbed for nearly two years as the Tahitian nacre forms around the turquoise. The nacre is then hand carved by craftsmen.
