§ Ronald Maddox, PPRI, Hon.RWS, Hon.RBA, PS, FCSD (British, 1930-2018) Malhamdale, North Yorkshire signed 'Ronald Maddox' (lower right) watercolour and ink 35 x 47cm (14 x 18in) Other Notes: Born in Purley, Surrey, Maddox began his artistic career at the Hertfordshire College of Art and Design in 1945 and later became a designer for the Air Ministry Design Unit of the Royal Air Force. After the war, he continued his artistic education, specialising in printing and graphic art. By 1962 he had become a freelance artist, designer and illustrator, undertaking several prestigious commissions. Maddox notably completed drawings for the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Royal Naval College and the Queen's House, Greenwich. The original drawings for these are now held by the Tate Gallery, and further paintings by Maddox have been exhibited internationally. Slight discolouration to the margin, however, otherwise the condition appears to be good.
