She went on to work at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, painting plant portraits for Sir Isaac Bayley Balfour, Professor of Botany at the University of Edinburgh. She studied lithography under Frank Morley Fletcher and, in 1921, she came to work at Kew Botanic Gardens as the principal illustrator and lithographer to Curtis's Botanical Magazine. She was awarded the Victoria Medal in 1955 and her work was featured in the Kew Gardens' bicentennial exhibition 'Kew's Aid to Botany over 200 Years'.
