Born in Strasbourg in 1888, artist and poet, Jean Hans Arp was one of the founding members of Dadaism and is principally remembered for his biomorphic sculptures. Whilst Arp’s work is abstract and non-representational, his use of undulating lines recalls plants, animals, and other organic forms. The present lot, a limited-edition polished bronze, with its organic composition and wavy lines, is characteristic of Arp’s work.
