Description

The Twelve Pins, Connemara, Ireland signed lower left 'Frank Egginton' watercolour 36 x 52 cm

Footnote: Although he was born in Cheshire and raised in Devon, Frank Egginton is widely considered an Irish artist. In 1930, after completing his training at Newton Abbott College of Art and refining his skills as a draughtsman in a local architect’s office, Egginton made his first visit to Ireland. Captivated by the wild and rugged landscapes, Egginton’s visits to Ireland became lengthier and more frequent, until he settled in Cookstown, County Tyrone, in 1946. The present watercolour is one of a number of views the artist produced of the Twelve Pins mountain range, County Galway, and demonstrates the atmosphere and depth characteristic of Egginton’s work.

Condition report: A little discolouration and flies under the glass.
