§ Claude Bendall (British, 1891-1970) Farm labourers in a windswept landscape with a horse and cart signed and dated lower right "Claude Bendall / 1965" watercolour 50 x 44cm (20 x 17in)
Other Notes: Claude Bendall was a painter of figural subjects and portraits in gouache and watercolour. He was born at Boscastle and showed great promise as a pianist in his early years but took up art instead, studying in Paris. Bendall exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1943 and with the New English Art Club from 1944-1957. He found his subjects in England, France and Ireland and painted many scenes of gypsy life. He lived at Wrotham in Kent.
Condition appears fine.
