Description

circa 1850, the white dial, 50mm diameter, with black Arabic numerals, blued moon hands, outer baton minute track and winding aperture at 2 o’clock, gilt full plate movement held within a gilt metal frame, with pierced and engraved balance cock and chain fusée, silvered regulation, engraved barrel cover and 4 pinned cylindrical pillars, push activated repeating mechanism with steel hammers striking on a coiled gong and silencing slider at 11 o'clock, case, 55mm diameter with convex crystal, upper and lower bezels with the remains of engine turned decoration, edge with engine turning, verso hinged at 6 o'clock, plain and polished, interior numbered 9556, unmarked but tested as silver with cuvette sprung loaded to the gilt metal frame, 142.2g gross and presented with the winding keys



Condition report:

Case: Front and back covers open and closes satisfactorily and the hinges do not appear strained.

Crystal: Complete and secure with some minor scratches and chips as to be expected.

Dial: In good condition. Some very minor chips to the very edge and some minor surface scratches all over. Some wear to the minute track between 4 and 8 o'clock.

Movement: Cuvette opens and snaps shut satisfactorily and the hinge does not appear strained. Movement not currently in working order. Balance wheel moves freely and 'ticks' for one or two seconds before stopping. Hands move freely in both directions.
