Description

Two (probably) 19th century mounted cowrie shell snuff boxes,

both apparently unmarked, mounts test as silver, the brown and white polished shells within reeded mounts, undersides with piano hinged covers, 8.5 x 6cm and 6.5 x 5cm (2)



Larger:

Shell - Overall in fair to good condition. No losses. Some minor surface scratches all over as to be expected. Two minor cracks, on opposite sides to each other, towards the narrow end and running from the mount at 90 degrees, then turning and running parallel with the mount (see images 2, 5 and 7)

Mount - Overall in good condition. Some minor surface scratches as to be expected. Hinge in good order and cover sits well to the mount

Smaller:

Shell - Overall in good condition. No losses. Some minor surface scratches all over as to be expected.

Mount - Overall in good condition. Some minor surface scratches as to be expected. Hinge in good order and cover sits well to the mount
