Description

circa 1700, the outer (and inner) case unmarked, the cover activated by push button, verso hinged at 9 o'clock, plain and polished, the open faced pocket watch with signed silvered annular dial, 43mm diameter, inner ring of black Roman hour numerals, outer ring of black Arabic minute numerals, blued beetle and poker hands and 2 chemin de fer chapter rings, front loading gilt full plate movement, signed THO: GORDON EDINBURGH 565, pierced and engraved winged balance cock with gentleman embellishment at the neck, verge escapement with chain fusée, silvered regulation and 4 pinned crested tulip pillars, inner case, 49mm diameter with stirrup shaped pendant bow and convex crystal, verso plain and polished with winding aperture, metal tests as silver,140.9g gross and presented with the winding key



Case - 

Outer case - opens and closes satisfactorily and the hinge does not appear strained. Some dents and dings to the case back together with evidence of a repaired split.

Inner case - Some dents, scuffs and dings together with light creasing around the rim.


Dial - In good condition though a little dirty, and tarnished and would probably benefit from a light clean

Movement - In running order, though not tested for timekeeping
