Description

Susan Wright - a diamond pendant and chain, the pendant of oval outline and convex form, designed as a cluster of open asymmetric ovals highlighted by a scattering of twenty-five round brilliant cut diamonds, the bale and chain of elongated links, barrel clasp; both pendant and chain with London hallmarks for 18ct gold 1974 and with maker's mark 'S.L.W', the clasp also with French eagle's head mark for 18ct gold; length of pendant with bale 5.3cm, of chain 42cm, gross weight 25.8g
Other Notes: Susan Wright learned her craft at the Birmingham College of Art, and went on to win a number of De Beers Diamonds International Awards in the 1960s and 1970s. After setting up on her own in Notting Hill, she went into partnership with Ron Stanton in 1973 forming a company called Diamond Design. She had a workshop at the 'House on the Bridge', Eton and in the 1980s opened a jewellery shop called 'Platinum Design' in Eton. At the time, 'Platinum Design' was described as 'only the second shop in Britain to specialise in platinum, the other being in Bond Street'.
