Description

Hotah Jaloh Kira (lady’s dress cloth), Bhutan, 19th century,

worked with a continuous long stripe pattern in organic dyes of indigo blue, cochineal red, and rhubarb yellow, in wool and nettle fibres, 123 x 245cm



Provenance:
Acquired in the early 1980s



Condition report:

Well worn, in excess of 23 medium-small holes (some caused by buckle attachment for securing the dress over many years), fringed ends degraded/frayed/losses. Some staining.
