circa 1805, outer case lacking, unsigned gold coloured dial with engine turned inner, 40mm diameter, with gold coloured applied Arabic numerals on an engine turned outer ring, blued spade hands, outer dot minute track and winding aperture at 4 o'clock, front loading gilt full plate movement, signed HEDGE COLCHESTER N6416, with engraved and winged balance cock, lever escapement with chain fusée, silvered regulation and 4 pinned spool pillars under a signed and numbered brass dust cover, inner case, 50mm, with convex outers, both sides plain and polished, inner with London hallmarks for 18ct gold, additionally engraved THIS WATCH BELONGED TO WILLIAM SPARLING SOLICITOR THREE TIMES MAYOR OF COLCHESTER DIED 1815, 80g gross and presented with the winding key
