the outer (and inner) case with mark of Thomas Gibbard, London 1802, the cover activated by push button, verso hinged at 9 o'clock, plain and polished, interior gilded, the open faced pocket watch with unsigned white dial, 48mm diameter, offset hour and minute register with black Arabic numerals, gold coloured moon hands and chemin de fer chapter ring overlapping with an oversized seconds register with blued spade hand, front loading half engraved gilt full plate movement, signed H. HERBERT LONDON NO 14866, pierced and engraved winged balance cock, verge escapement with chain fusée, silvered regulation, 4 pinned cylindrical pillars and start/stop slider at 3 o'clock, inner case, 50mm diameter with stirrup shaped pendant bow and convex crystal, verso plain and polished with winding aperture, interior gilded, 122.2g gross and presented with the winding keys Condition report: Outer case: Push button operates satisfactorily and hinge does not appear strained. Interior gilding a little worn but still good. Hallmarks readable.Inner case: In good condition with some minor surface scratches as to be expected. Cover opens and closes satisfactorily and the hinge does not appear strained. Interior gilding a little worn but still good. Hallmarks readable.Crystal: Complete and secure with some very minor scratches and chips as to be expected.Dial: In good condition. Some very minor chips to the very edge and some very minor surface scratches all over.Movement: Catch opens and snaps shut satisfactorily and the hinge does not appear strained. Movement in working order but not tested for timekeeping. Hands move freely in both directions.
