circa 1932, the signed oval silvered dial, 12mm wide, with black Arabic numerals, blued moon hands and inner chemin de fer chapter ring, signed but unnumbered 15 jewel mechanical crown wind movement calibre 833, the crown with cabochon synthetic sapphire end stone, rectangular case, 15mm wide, the bezel and sides with foliate engraving, verso snap off, plain and polished with monogram, interior signed and stamped 14K numbered 833/53 1115744, fixed wire lugs to a white metal mesh style bracelet terminating in an adjustable clip stamped 9CT WHITE GOLD, 16.4g ex movementFootnote: Founded in 1900 in Cincinnati, Ohio by German-born watchmaker Dietrich Grün, the Gruen Watch Company was formerly one of the largest watch manufacturers in the United States. Herr Grün changed the spelling of his name to "Gruen" as the letter ü does not exist in the English language.Gruen was one of the first US watch companies to sell watches with movements produced in Switzerland, but adjusted, dialled and cased in the United States.
