Figures at a well with their cattle and sheep in a southern landscape
oil on panel
36 x 51.5cm

early 17th century

The painting is executed in oil on a wooden panel formed from two boards in horizontal alignment. The panel lies flat in the frame and the join has been reinforced from behind with a wooden batten. The paint along the panel join is slightly raised in some areas. Otherwise, the paint layer is in a stable condition. There are areas of overpaint covering wear and abrasion. The varnish is glossy and even.
