Harvesting seaweed in a choppy sea
oil on canvas
51.5 X 90cm

Provenance:
Walker Galleries, London

Condition report:

73 x 111cm (framed)

Oil on canvas which has not been lined. There are undulations in the canvas, notably a convex bulge in the upper half. This has partly been caused by a tear along the upper edge causing loss of tension to the canvas in this area. In the lower left corner there is a small tear which has been repaired from the reverse with a patch. There are localised areas of loss and abrasion. At the upper right corner the paint layer is very worn, possibly caused by an attempt to clean the painting. There is a very thin layer of varnish present across the work. In the darker paint passages a white efflorescence has formed within the texture of the paint layers. There is a light layer of dirt and some brown stains in the sky.
