Description
An Italian walnut side table, 18th century,
the canted top with a carved frieze raised on lyre shaped supports and stretchers, one stretcher marked PSS within a circle
76 x 122 x 60cm
Provenance:
Collection of Mike Handford, 'Hillsleigh', Burford, Oxfordshire
Historic worm to the top, general scratching and indents as you would expect
Underside has added metal bolts, possibly for attaching to a wall, shadow by the rails would suggest alterations
Structurally good though minor movement left and right
The carved frieze with minor knocks
Signs of restoration to the stretchers, especially the front right foota and the top of the inside left stretcher, some joints with signs of repair
