circa 1786, outer (and inner) case with casemaker's mark of Richard Palmer and London hallmarks for 22ct gold, cover activated by push button, verso hinged at 9 o'clock, front bezel with a line of dark blue enamel under a white and pale blue enamel zig zag design, verso bezel to match, the centre with dark blue guilloché enamel and gold fleur de lys and floral decoration, the open faced pocket watch with unsigned white dial, 35mm diameter, black Roman numerals, copper coloured beetle and poker hands and bar minute track with outer Arabic numerals, front loading gilt full plate movement, signed ALEXR. AINGE LONDON 1786, pierced and engraved winged balance cock with helmeted soldier bust in profile embellishment at the neck and diamond end stone, verge escapement with chain fusée, silvered regulation and 4 pinned round baluster pillars, inner case, 40mm diameter with stirrup shaped pendant bow and convex crystal, verso plain and polished with winding aperture, 97.9g gross and presented with the winding key

Case -

Outer case - 46mm diameter - Opens and closes satisfactorily with no apparent strain to the hinge. No obvious damage to the enamel, with some minor scuffing to the reverse

Inner case - 40mm diameter - Some light scuffing all over as to be expected, particularly around the edge, together with a light crease around the edge from 8 - 10 o'clock

Dial - Some very minor chipping to the very edge, particularly over the 55 numeral above the 11 o'clock indicator.

Movement - Winds satisfactorily and the balance moves freely, but the movement is not in running order
