Description

by George Richards Elkington, London 1862, the cast column of intertwining vines with hanging leaves, tendrils and bunches of grapes supporting three branches similarly designed each terminating in a ribbed sconce and removable nozzle supporting a cut glass bowl, but which could also be used as a candle holder, the centre of the column continues above the three branches in the same style, and flares open to support a larger circular cut glass bowl, the whole structure rising from a raised, somewhat bulbous and lobed base decorated with shell and scroll edges, and with two panels of presentation engraving, the underside with a removable counterweight for stability, overall height 60cm 88.7ozt weighable silver
