A set of three carved wood masks, Orissa, India, probably late 19th/early 20th century,

each with crown, raised moustache and polychrome painted decoration, 28cm high

Acquired in February 1999



Footnote:

The masks included within the present lot are believed to represent Nakula, Arjuna and Bhima, three of the five Pandava brothers central to the ancient Sanskrit epic, Mah?bh?rata.
