constructed of narrow stripes of looped and knotted red wool, later relined, patched and backed with cotton canvas, 133cm

Footnote:
The present lot is a rare example of the type of garment worn by meditating Lamas in monasteries and during winter retreats. Designed for warmth, the woollen cloth inside the cape is woven on very narrow looms with a loop created to imitate the skin of a sheep.
Condition report:
Pile quite heavily worn, with upwards of four small to medium holes and repairs
