A large Japanese porcelain charger, Edo Period, 18th century,

the deep dish with broad rim, decorated in iron red and gilt with seven birds around a peony motif within a quartered border of lush flowering foliage

Wood Hall, Hilgay, Norfolk



Central well has several areas of heavy wear. Gilding is generally reasonable throughout . General slight enamel wear.

One small surface hairline crack in rim (top) with slight stain but does not penetrate through the body.

Old iron hanging wires still extant caused slight rim wear on contact zones.
