Description

A group of three Kera, Bhutan, early 20th century,

each woven with a double faced brocade technique in raw silk on cotton with narrow bands of auspicious and geometric symbols, 193 x 40cm, 193 x 35cm, 98 x 21.5cm



Provenance:
Acquired in the early 1980s



Footnote:

The Kera is the traditional belt/sash used by Bhutanese women to secure the Kira around the waist and at the same time creating two essential folds at the back. The fringes at either end are usually concealed from view.



Condition report:

widest - slightly dirty with wear at folds

middle example - several small holds, wear at folds

smallest - worn, slight fading
