Footnote: Provenance: Rear Admiral Charles Watson (1714-1757) and thence by family descent. The stand was by family tradition made for the Tortoiseshell Cabinet as illustrated and discussed in the Connoisseur magazine for December 1932 in an article by Charles R. Baird entitled, 'The Tortoiseshell Cabinet belonging to Her Majesty The Queen' and known as the Watson Cabinet.
