Description

A George II mahogany architects cupboard in the manner of Wright & Elwick, with lifting top and blind fret frieze and three short drawers, flanked by two arched panel doors and on a plinth base 92 x 133 x 62cm (36 x 52 x 24in)
Provenance: Mawley Hall, Shropshire Other Notes: Wright and Elwick of Wakefield was founded in 1747 by Edward Elwick and John Robinson and became the pre-eminent firm of cabinet makers and upholsterers in Yorkshire during the second half of the 18th century. They enjoyed a dominance almost comparable to that achieved by Gillows in Lancashire.
