Description

A Continental brass inalid amboyna writing slope, 19th century,

the fold over slope inlaid with a brass and mother-of-pearl cartouche, the interior fitted with ink wells and stationery racks

Condition report: Repair to the brass inlay on the top lid with glue marks visible, and another repair to the brass inlay on the bottom lid on the left side. Brass inlay slightly away from the side on the top left. Wear to black paint on the base rim. A slight tear and also wear to the blue lining on the interior, and small cracking on the right rail. Lock is slightly misshapen on the insert side. Cork is damaged on the inside of the ink well bottles. Small discoloured markings and dents throughout on the exterior. Markings and scratches consistent with age and use.
