Footnote: Other notes: Wang Hing and Co. are one of the most famous and prolific Chinese export silver makers in the world. Established in Canton in 1854, by the Lo family of merchants, the company's name was probably an invented one, designed to encourage good luck. Their high reputation was primarily due to an apparent relationship with Tiffany, New York. It was thought that they were a direct supplier of Chinese exportware to Tiffany, whose clients loved the Chinese patterns, decorations and styles at the time. In addition, the quality of silverware which Wang Hing produced was said to be much higher compared to the other Chinese manufacturers of the day. Today, Wang Hing items are one of the most desirable and collectable of all Chinese silver manufacturers.
