(lower right on the ledge)oil on canvas49 x 59cmProvenance:Frost & Reed Ltd, LondonRichard Hanson was in fact a temporary pseudonym used by Stuart Somerville, the distinguished British flower painter, in the late 1940s and early 1950s when painting to ‘order’ for Frost & Reed. CONDITIONUnlined. The paint layer is stable. Canvas tension appears to be slightly slack. There is a small indentation or impact mark near lower centre in the blue flowers with associated paint loss. Localised retouchings under UV, a small retouching near left centre edge opposite the yellow flower has become slightly discoloured and visible.
